Dr Cyril Bennett MBE and Riverfly Monitoring ARMI

Dr Cyril Bennett’s beautifully clear illustrations of riverflies is a huge part of the success of the ARMI Riverfly [Monitoring] Partnership which he helped to create over two decades ago. Run almost entirely by volunteers, ARMI Riverfly invertebrate monitoring provides an early warning system on pollution in our rivers and streams. Dr Bennett recently shared his thoughts on the state of chalk streams and the creation of ARMI Riverfly Monitoring in a short essay which you can in full here.
